How does Vivace® RF microneedling work?
Vivace® RF Microneedling combines the power of radiofrequency energy with the benefits of traditional microneedling. Vivace® RF microneedling is an FDA-approved device that uses ultra-thin needles to penetrate the skin and deliver radiofrequency (heat) energy to the deeper layers of the skin. Since the top layer of skin remains intact, delivering this energy directly to the lower layers of skin results in less downtime for patients. As the deeper levels of skin regenerate and rise to the surface, results are both immediately visible and improve over time. Perhaps the best feature of all, the RF energy can be completely customized to your exact skin type and desired goals, making it the ideal solution for a wide number of skin issues.
What can I expect during the treatment?
Even though the treatment consists of ultra-thin needles and radiofrequency energy that penetrate the skin, the Vivace® RF Microneedling is virtually pain-free. Most of our patients tell us it feels warm with a slight pinching sensation. Depending on the size of the treatment area, one treatment takes between thirty minutes to an hour to perform. Although 3 treatments are generally recommended, the provider will customize to the needs of each patient to ensure optimal results. After receiving Vivace® RF Microneedling, there is little to no downtime required. Once the treatment is finished, the treated area may be slightly pink and puffy. This will resolve in about 24 hours. Makeup can be applied in 24 hours. You will be asked to avoid activities that could trigger the face’s natural response to flush during the first 48-72 hours, such as strenuous activities and long showers or baths. This is put in place to ensure that the skin vessels remain closed and also to improve the efficacy of the treatment.
How long until I see results?
It is essential to wear sunscreen immediately after your treatment as your skin will be sensitive and slightly flushed. Within a day or two following treatment, this sensitivity diminishes and you will begin to see a more radiant, even complexion. Over the next three to six weeks, your skin will continue to improve. As the production of collagen and elastin triggered by the treatment will continue to accelerate over the next six months, the results should last for quite a while. For even more dramatic results, we can combine Vivace® RF Microneedling with Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) Therapy, a process in which your blood platelets rich in healing properties and growth factors are re-administered into the treatment area to repair and build new skin cells.
