What is Fotona NightLase Treatment?
Fotona NightLase is a non-invasive treatment for snoring and sleep apnea and has been shown to increase a patient’s quality of sleep. This is achieved through the use of a laser that causes a tightening effect due to a collagen contraction in the oral mucosa tissue.
NightLase is a relatively simple and comfortable office treatment. It has helped to considerably reduce snoring and provide a non-invasive method of lessening the effects of sleep apnea.
Some of the main benefits of Fotona NightLase Treatments that patients can experience include:
How effective is NightLase Treatment?
NightLase is a revolutionary laser treatment designed to lessen persistent and uncomfortable snoring, as well as sleep apnea – a condition that stops and starts breathing during sleep.
Snoring can have a detrimental effect on your life; sleep deprivation for yourself or a loved one is a common complaint related to snoring. People who snore often suffer from morning headaches, excessive tiredness, irritability and dry mouth. It can also make relationships more problematic when the snoring affects a loved one’s ability to sleep. A link between snoring and a higher risk of heart attack and stroke has also been shown by studies.
Fotona NightLase treatments work via a laser-induced tightening effect in the oral mucosa tissue by strengthening the collagen tissues present in the soft palate. The treatment works as the result of the heat emitted from the laser, which helps the collagen in the oral mucosa tissue contract, strengthening it and opening the airways. The tightening also shrinks the soft palate, which can reduce vibrations that cause snoring.
NightLase treatments are very effective in reducing snoring and sleep apnea; some studies have found it to be over 85% effective in the treatment of these conditions. Dr. Chow can help you to understand how NightLase can help you improve your sleep and determine if you are a good candidate for treatment.
How many sessions do I need to see final results?
A full course of Fotona NightLase treatments will typically consist of three separate sessions usually spread out over a span of six to nine weeks. Once completed, results can last up to one year, after which time the patient may repeat the therapy. Each procedure takes approximately 15 to 30 minutes, and no anesthesia is required so patients are able to be in and out of the office fairly quickly.
Additional rounds of treatment can be performed as needed once the patients or their loved ones notice problematic snoring or reappearing signs of sleep apnea.
Research has shown that NightLase® is a very comfortable and satisfying solution that yields excellent results. Since it does not require wearing a special overnight device and has no chemical component, patients find NightLase® to be an easy and gentle way to improve snoring or sleep apnea, helping to improve the quality of their sleep significantly.
Dr Chow will build out a comprehensive, personalized treatment plan for your NightLase® treatment that is unique to your situation and needs. This will outline how many sessions you are likely to need and how often you may need to follow up with additional treatments.
