Treatment Process: What to Expect
Before Your Session
- Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for at least two weeks before treatment.
- Discontinue retinoids, exfoliants, and other active skincare products as directed by your provider.
- Arrive with clean skin—free of makeup, lotions, or self-tanners.
- If undergoing hair removal, shave the treatment area 48 hours before your appointment.
During Your Session
- Your provider will apply a cooling gel to enhance comfort and optimize light penetration.
- Protective eyewear will be provided to shield your eyes from the light pulses.
- The BBL device will deliver controlled pulses of light to the skin. Most patients describe the sensation as a warm, snapping feeling that is well tolerated.
Most sessions take 30 minutes or less, depending on the size of the area(s) being treated.
After Your Session
In the first 24 hours, you may experience mild redness, slight swelling, or warmth, similar to a light sunburn.
- Sun protection is essential—apply broad-spectrum SPF daily to protect your results.
- You can resume most normal activities immediately, but avoid excessive heat, sweating, and harsh skincare for 24–48 hours.
When Will I See Results?
Over the next few days after treatment, dark spots may temporarily darken before naturally fading, while your skin begins to appear clearer. Within 1–2 weeks, you’ll notice improved results as your skin continues to heal. Around 4–6 weeks, full results emerge as collagen production enhances skin texture and firmness.
For optimal outcomes, may recommend a series of treatments spaced several weeks apart, with periodic maintenance sessions to sustain your results.
BBL vs. Traditional IPL – What’s Right for You?
Both BBL and IPL use light energy to treat skin concerns, but there are key differences between the two. IPL is a broader-based treatment that addresses a variety of skin concerns, while BBL is a more precise and targeted approach designed specifically for advanced skin rejuvenation.
